2019-20 PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES
We are offering three PLC’s this year:
A) Our Environment: Building awareness and understanding
Lead by: MC Pierce , Location: Orange County School of the Arts
Dates: 11/16/2019, 01/11/2020, 2/8/2020
Learn how to backwards design a CI unit starting with the end in mind. As a member of this PLC you will:
- Collaborate and create an original unit using research-based methodology
- Be provided a planning tool and training on how to use it
Participate in demos of best practices and high-impact CI strategies - Be asked to try the demoed strategies in your own classroom with your current materials
- Be part of a community that will offer support, feedback, and guidance throughout the process
- Walk away with the confidence to apply the unit-planning tool to future units in your class
B) Love: Unit: Spanish Heritage Classroom
Lead by: Rene Murguia, Location: Santiago High School Dates: 11/9/2019, 01/11/2020, 2/8/2020

C) Creating a CI curriculum for the Elementary Classroom
Lead by: Jason Fritze

Dates: 1/11, 2/8, 3/7 2020

- Learn to maximize the time you spend with you students using research-based methodology
- • Participate in demos of best practices and high-impact CI strategies
- • Be asked to try the demoed strategies in your own classroom with your current materials
- • Be part of a community that will offer support, feedback, and guidance throughout the process
- • Walk away with the confidence to design a meaningful CI-based elementary curriculum
